I woke up this morning (well, pre-morning) and man was I hungover. Last night was the annual Black and White bash, courtesy awesome DJs Worth and Ryan, and I drank what I would consider a “normal” amount of alcohol for me over the course of four hours. However, I am going to have to rethink my position on “normal” alcohol dosage, because I was totally wrecked this morning and was lucky to be able to function after a near-noon breakfast.
I understand rationally why my body, now that it’s older, is incapable of living the way I used to live – as in, college days. However, the change felt pretty gradual, and I have recently become aware of how big a change it was. To give some context, last year I drank socially and never felt hungover (even on away-events like the Magic Cruise or Pro Tours). This year, I can think of three days specifically where I just wanted to die from how hungover I was, and many others where I was close (like today).
It could also be a fitness thing. Although I don’t think I’m considerably less fit this year than last year, even if I am at the same out-of-shape level now, I’ve now sort of trained my body to be more unhealthy and therefore less resilient to, uh, alcohol poisoning. I guess it’s not that surprising when I put it that way!
I still enjoy having fancy cocktails, but I think I’m going to need to find a nonalcoholic drink I can get a bar (like a Coke or something) that can fill out the liquid without increasing the inebriation so much.
